Contingency Fees Explained
At
the Willems’ Law Office your initial consultation for a personal injury case is
always free.
Most personal injury cases are handled on a contingency basis. This means the attorney gets a certain
percentage of the money recovered for you.
If the attorney does not recover money for you, the attorney does not
receive a legal fee.
You can pay for an attorney’s assistance by the hour if you wish. This means you pay us for each hour we work
on your behalf. Payment must be made in
advance. If you're interested in an
hourly arrangement, please mention it.
From our experience, we have found that the contingency fee arrangement is what
most of our clients want and prefer.
This is because most injured victims cannot afford to pay the cost of
hiring a lawyer by the hour.
You are legally responsible for the costs the attorney advances for the case.
The advanced money will be deducted from your share of dollars recovered. Expenses for the case will include, but are not
limited to, the costs of copying medical records and other documents, expert
witness fees, filing fees and court costs, deposition expenses, costs of
exhibits, transportation and postage.
